Station Plus Transforming the Transitional Station

Station Plus Transforming the Transitional Station

Oct 16, 2015 | Posted by NBRS ARCHITECTURE | Innovation, News, Places to Work |

StationPlus is an innovative solution to the often wasted ‘in-between’ time and space of commuting designed by NBRSARCHITECTURE. As cities continue to grow and technology advances, the way that we work is shifting and the places where we work must begin to adapt. The hours we spend commuting on a daily basis result in underutilised time that could be used more efficiently if stations were designed to incorporate flexible spaces that allow for work-related activities.

StationPlus provides individual pods, benches, miniature meeting rooms and nooks designated for those who desire to be productive during the interim commuting time. The design includes work spaces that are adaptable depending on the necessities of the occupant. These individual and group work spaces are easily accessible within the station and include access to charging electronics, semi-private cubbies for finalising a presentation and benches for relaxing before heading back to the office. Mobile furniture can be transformed from individual to collaborative spaces allowing workmates or colleagues to prep before a client meeting or to debrief before heading back to the office. Essentially, transportation stations become appropriate places to provide commuters with areas to chip away at work tasks at any time during the day, possibly resulting in less travel to and from the office.

Work is no longer limited to a time frame or even a geographical location, which is why StationPlus is central to making the most of ‘in-between’ time. It redefines the typical approach to public transport circulation systems with the assistance of technology and flexible work spaces providing users an easy transition between peak and off-peak times.
