Two Graduates from NBRSARCHITECTURE ENVISION Program Nominated for Architects Medallion
NBRSARCHITECTURE has a strong connection with schools of Architecture. Our architecture students are encouraged to engage in critical design thinking mixed with real studio work. For the past six years, NBRS has engaged with students from all Sydney universities in the thought leading ENVISION Research Program. The ten-week paid internship has produced research material in areas such as Learning Spaces,Wellness in Architecture, and the Workplace of the Future. This year, we have had two of our ENVISION graduates nominated for the prestigious NSW Architects Registration Board Architects Medallion: Tiffany Liew (USYD) and Luen Samonte (UNSW).
Since 1942, The Architects Medallion has been awarded every year to an architecture graduate who has achieved distinction in their subject area at the final level and distinction throughout the last two years of their five-year degree’. The top graduate from each of the four schools of architecture are eligible for the award. This year, for the first time in history, all of the candidates were female.
The project for which Luen was nominated, titled ‘Embodication’, examines the relationship between education and architecture through a progressive design boarding school located in Annandale NSW that teaches students by fostering curiosity, discovery and incidental meetings. Luen notes that the architecture anticipated through Embodication explores spatial awareness and social experiences at an urban scale. NBRS has been able to partner with these students during their time at university and for Luen that relationship has continued as a valuable part of our team.
NBRSARCHITECTURE is a fertile platform for leading the way in student partnership and ensuring that our practice is design forward and research based.
