Revitalised History Classrooms at Barker College
History has been re-energised at Barker College, Sydney. The NBRSARCHITECTURE team of Interior Designers and Graphic Designers has created new learning environments to a set of 5 Learning Spaces for the Secondary School History Department.
Part of an original 1970’s classroom block has been transformed by breaking down walls creating light filled, naturally ventilated, dynamic new learning environments. New finishes improve interactive display, communications and acoustics in a clean simple way and have reinvigorated the spaces. Improved technology and expansive write on walls have created an interactive, responsive environment.
The NBRS Interior Design team lead by Sophie Orrock, selected colour schemes and responsive furniture that communicate each thematic era represented in the 5 learning spaces.
The NBRS Graphic Design Team led by Holly Medway, has created the historical context through imagery and colour to enliven the study of history. Images across the ages from Genghis Khan, to John F Kennedy, to Mabo, now bring the spaces alive.
The project was completed seamlessly over the Christmas vacation in readiness for Term 1, 2017. It has been another successful project in a series at Barker College bringing together the benefits of the many facets of the NBRS design team.
