Women in Leadership
2018 has been a year for women in leadership at NBRS. Since December 2017 we have seen four female Studio Principals join our leadership team and this month we mark our first female Director to be elected onto the board, Samantha Polkinghorne.
- Anthea Doyle, Studio Principal Justice
- Samantha Polkinghorne, Director of Studios and Studio Principal Heritage
- Sophie Orrock, Studio Principal Interior Design Studio
- Macella Salzmann, Associate
- Hung Ying Foong Gill, Associate
- Joelle Sarkis, Studio Principal Education
Research shows the overwhelming rate of women who leave architecture. This is an important industry wide issue to be actively working to combat. By having women at a range of different management levels we hope to be part of the change towards a more equitable gender representation. Women in leadership position shows visibility and active leadership in a space that for so long has been dominated by men.
Joelle Sarkis recently has joined the NBRS Leadership Team. Joining Jonathan West in leading our largest studio Joelle will be working across a range of projects and ensuring a high attention to detail and design excellence.
We also welcome Macella Salzmann as Associate to the Education Studio. Bringing her range of expertise over the last 20 years Macella specialises in both primary and secondary regional schools. With a focus on design that supports contemporary teaching and learning modes, we are excited for Macella to join the NBRS team.
