Tour: Taronga Institute of Science and Learning
Wednesday 21st of November brought together a number of designers, educators and other professionals to Taronga Zoo. Amongst the wildlife sits the NBRS designed Taronga Institute of Science and Learning. As the lead architects NBRS worked with Taronga to design a centre for scientific research, discovery and conservation.
A space created for learning and research at all stages, here labs, offices and classrooms sit together to create a centre for innovation and education. The tour was led by NBRS Chairman and Director of Design Andrew Duffin. A tour of the recently opened building allowed guided insight into creating this world class facility. Exploring science labs and meeting critters in the immersive classrooms, the tour showed a new way of marrying education and research in the one space.
As the design architect, NBRS supported Taronga to realise its vision for the Immersive Classrooms. The final design solution was created by Taronga in collaboration with NBRS and the builder to meet complex animal welfare needs and deliver a unique student learning experience
