Design Futures Council: Modular Education Spaces
NBRS Director of Design, Andrew Duffin, has been touring the country with the Design Futures Council with Fleetwood and Arup discussing modular design within the education space. As architects NBRS understands the importance of fast and adaptable delivery with minimal site interference, particularly in operational schools. With a growing population and the extensive use of demountables across Australia, modular design in the educational design space is a way for schools and learning institutions to keep up with populations and student body growth but also plan longer term solutions to an influx of students.
Most recently NBRS worked with Fleetwood to design the modular Fairfield Primary School in Victoria. The school required a new double storey facility to support their grade five and six students for the start of the 2019 school year. Both storeys (25 modules) were delivered over the space of a week, which equates to over 700 square metres.
