Social Architecture

Design for Society

The fabric of society is a complex weave. We are social beings relying on relationship and dependence as community foundations. Our co-dependence is an innate force which is strengthened through carefully arranging the threads in the collective cloth. An ordered community is not an oppressed one. It has strength if its allegiance to principled structure retains integrity. Freedom of thinking and   expression needs fertile ground and oxygen. In balance, for order to remain we need parameters. Nature has freedom and is so infinite in expression within its boundaries of order. Every face is unique; every thumbprint is unique. Yet there is order in humanity, detail and nature.  A fish has infinite freedom so long as it remains in the order of water.

NBRS practices architecture and design for the good of society. Understanding the laws of how community works is key. How people come together for learning, healing, playing, entertaining, commuting, working, eating, exercising, praying, relaxing, meeting, caring. We care and are committed to creating environments that support all parts of life.

Our architecture, landscape architecture, interior design and heritage advice revolves around playing a part in shaping society. Our designs have freedom and freshness within a fabric of beauty and order.

An example of working with the weave of life, is our recently completed an award-winning scheme for a catholic parish school in Malawi. Education, accommodation, sustainability, play, dining – all parts of community were woven together in an evocative deign.
