Heritage Studio

HERITAGE CONSULTANT

Role Summary

The role of Heritage Consultant requires a close working relationship with the studio lead and active participation and contribution across all phases of a project, working individually and as a part of a team. This role gives responsibility for quality of reporting, design, production and co-ordination of projects including assistance with management of team resources, program, budgets and client relationships. This role is accountable to the leader of the heritage studio and requires you to support the ethos, strategies and design direction of NBRSARCHITECTURE.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Provides a high level of advice across all areas of heritage management and conservation practice.
  • Prepare a range of heritage management documents, including heritage studies, thematic histories, heritage assessments, nominations; impact statements; conservation management strategies, and conservation management plans; condition assessments; conservation schedule of works; maintenance schedules; expert evidence; archival recording and interpretation plans.
  • Support architectural studios and clients, both internal and external, with heritage advice.
  • Advise on development feasibility with respect to heritage management issues.
  • Manage client’s expectations and commitments to project delivery in response to available office resources. Maintain regular contact with clients
  • Prepare consultancy service agreements, quotations and responses to Request for Tenders in consultation with the Heritage Studio Lead.
  • Contribute to cross-studio/team in all areas and work with co-workers to improve efficiencies and share knowledge.
  • Assistance to the studio leader in the supervision and direction of team members including Heritage Consultants and Historian.
  • Responsible for the daily production and implementation of heritage advice within the limits of the programme and budget.
  • Assist in the development of precedents of services and products including standards in office practice and in areas of expertise.
  • Engage with peak bodies and the public at large to promote the firm’s heritage, architectural and landscape expertise.
  • Ensuring adherence to standard office process, policies and procedures, and maintaining project files, data and reports in an organised manner;
  • Ensuring effective communication of information to all team members;

Continue with Professional Development and where appropriate research areas of professional interest that assist and facilitate the work of the firm.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • An architectural degree and registration as an Architect required.
  • Post-graduate qualifications in heritage management are desirable but not essential.
  • Considerable practical experience in heritage management of the built environment and cultural landscapes is essential.
  • Sound knowledge of conservation policies and best practice as reflected in the Australia ICOMOS Burra Charter.
  • Full international membership of Australia ICOMOS is desirable
  • Ability to be listed as a consultant on the Heritage Consultants Directory of the Heritage Branch of the NSW Office of Environment & Heritage.
  • Ability to be listed as a Heritage Advisor within the Heritage Advisors’ Network of the Heritage Branch of the NSW Office of Environment & Heritage.
  • Possess a holistic understanding of heritage issues, including appreciation of environmental, natural heritage, movable heritage/collections.
  • Possess a sound working understanding of relevant statutory frameworks at a local and State level.
  • Suitable practical experience in heritage conservation work;
  • An ability to provide practical conservation design solutions;
  • An ability to negotiate acceptable solutions to issues involving heritage matters where these arise.
  • Strong inter-personal and oral and written communication skills and an ability to actively promote heritage conservation through education and management;
  • Advanced presentation skills

Bid & Tender Coordinator

BID AND TENDER COORDINATOR

Role Summary:

Reporting to the Director of Strategy & Finance, you will be responsible for coordinating winning proposals and tenders for new projects. Utilising your relationship building and organisation skills, you will work closely with the Directors and Studio Principals to coordinate, write and prepare high quality and customised tenders and proposals for a variety of projects. This is a ‘hands on’ role and will see you engaging with sub-consultants, sub-contractors, suppliers and contractors to collate information and manage their submission input.

We are seeking a proactive and dynamic individual who is able to manage the full submissions process, with a high level of attention to detail and commitment to quality. As part of the marketing and communications team you will also have the opportunity to work on a variety of marketing projects and strategies.

To be successful in the role you will have/be:

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in coordinating bids within architecture, building, construction and/or a related sector.
  • A formal qualification in Business, Communications, Marketing or a related discipline is highly desirable.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with proven ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders across various levels.
  • Advanced skills in Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Intermediate level expertise in Adobe Creative Suite including InDesign and Photoshop.
  • Organisation, time management and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously while prioritising multiple tasks to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Well-presented with a keen understanding of style.
  • A winning creative writing style and a good eye for detail.
  • Positive attitude with the ability to adapt to a changing and flexible work environment.

Finance Officer

Reporting to the Finance Manager and working closely with Company Directors and Project Leaders, this role will process accounts payable and receivable, and will carry out various finance and administration tasks, including backup for staff payroll, while maintaining high standards of output.

In addition, the position is also responsible for providing project support to the Project Administration Officer by assisting with project set-up, validating data and forecasting.

  • Enter accurate information and maintain accounting data in accounting system (Xero).
  • Use of excel features to manipulate data efficiently and effectively.
  • Enter accurate information and maintain project accounting in Project Management System.
  • Assist Finance Manager as required.
  • Monitor various mailboxes and respond to emails, as required.
  • Provide support to Project Managers/Leaders in generating reports and supply of information in relation to management and billing of their projects.
  • To be successful in the role you will have/be:
  • A formal qualification in Accounting, Finance, Bookkeeping or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role with full scope of accounts receivable, accounts payable and payroll responsibilities.
  • Experience using Xero is desirable.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with proven ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to work autonomously with high level of attention to detail.
  • Problem solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritise multiple tasks ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Positive attitude with the ability to adapt to a changing and flexible work environment.
