Derek is a core member of the NBRSARCHITECTURE Education Studio with particular expertise in Sports and Aquatic Centres. The Studio is committed to creating agile learning facilities that also offer opportunity for students to become actively involved in sports and extra curricular activities to help create a sense of belonging.
With over 30 years of experience, Derek brings a wide breadth of expertise to the studio including preparing design and contract documentation, services co-ordination, as well as document management and administration. Having joined NBRS in 2007, he has successfully delivered a number of large and complex projects such as renovations to Anderson Stuart Building for the University of Sydney, a sport and science facility at Queenwood School for Girls, and the Ruth Everuss Aquatic Centre which is a new inclusive, community minded aquatic centre in Lidcombe, Sydney.
Derek works in a collaborative manner and is skilled at listening, observing and confidently interpreting a client’s aspirations. He has developed creative partnerships with the NSW Department of Education on a number of educational facilities.
