Derek is a core member of the NBRSARCHITECTURE Life & Culture Studio with particular expertise in Sports and Aquatic Centres. The Studio creates facilities that bring the community together and promote a sense of belonging.
With over 30 years of experience, Derek brings a wide breadth of expertise to the studio including preparing design and contract documentation, services co-ordination, as well as document management and administration. Having joined NBRS in 2007, he has successfully delivered a number of large and complex projects such as renovations to Anderson Stuart Building for the University of Sydney, a sport and science facility at Queenwood School for Girls, and the Ruth Everuss Aquatic Centre which is a new inclusive, community minded aquatic centre in Lidcombe, Sydney.
Derek works in a collaborative manner and is skilled at listening, observing and confidently interpreting a client’s aspirations. Having successfully refurbished the Ruth Everuss Aquatic Centre for Cumberland Council, Derek has built upon this creative partnership to enhance a number of community aquatic facilities within the Cumberland local government area.
