NBRSARCHITECTURE Landscape Architect Nick Ison designed the interconnected play areas to encourage interaction and creative exploration. The landscape design incorporates traditional play elements, while effectively utilising the limited outdoor terraces of the high-rise building.
Each room includes activities designed to engage children of specific age groups and stimulate growth and learning. For younger children, ages 0-2 and 2-3, the play spaces include mirrors and sandpits, but also offer an open floor plan allowing for portable equipment. Alternatively, the play spaces for 3-5 year olds are comprised of interactive and sensory activities such as vegetable gardens, sandpits, climbing mounds and water play, giving children an opportunity to create and explore.
In light of overcoming high-rise design challenges, NBRS has delivered an environment that boasts a flexible yet functional collection of colourful and vibrant play spaces that will stimulate learning and joy in the lives of children for many years to come.
