Innovation and Excellence for the New Armidale Future School
Armidale, located on the picturesque New England Tablelands, is a sophisticated education hub with a strong desire to be community centred. NBRSARCHITECTURE has been selected to design a state of the art, environmentally aware, community connected new secondary school for the NSW Department of Education on a large site first established in 1921.
The specialised education studio of NBRS will be creating student centred learning spaces supporting flexible facilities for all faculties, including science and technology, agriculture, performing arts, creative arts, and sporting events.
The new school will combine two existing schools and will cater for a total of 1580 students. The architectural team will work closely with the stakeholders to deliver an outcome which reflects the Armidale DNA along with achieving an aspirational educational and community relationship. NBRS will bring together a cohesive team of architects, pedagogical experts, landscape architects, heritage advisors, compliance advisors, and interior designers to create an inspiring project.
Armidale has a rich heritage in pastoral development, bold civic built environment and educational leadership. NBRS will draw on the character of the city and reference the unique colours and textures of Armidale for inspiration to create concept designs in close collaboration with the stakeholder group.
The project will be an opportunity for the creation of a life changing environment in this important regional city.
